FIFPRO Africa President Geremi Njitap Graces FUB Elective Congress
The congress, which also marked 15 years of FUB’s existence, brought together players, football leaders, and partners to reflect on the Union’s journey and elect new representatives.
In his keynote address, Njitap applauded FUB for its growth and resilience in protecting the rights and welfare of players in Botswana. He emphasized the importance of strong unions across Africa, noting that collective representation is the foundation for improving standards in the game.
“Footballers must stand united because their careers are short, and their challenges are often the same across the continent. Through FIFPRO, we are committed to working with unions like FUB to ensure players’ voices are heard and respected,” said Njitap.
The congress also saw the election of new representatives, with Joel Mogorosi voted as Players’ Relations Officer, Pinkie Segakise as Women’s Football Representative, and Thabang Sesinyi as Male Players’ Representative.
FUB President Onalethata Tshekiso described Njitap’s presence as a major boost for the Union and Botswana football, highlighting that it reflects the global recognition of FUB’s role in championing players’ rights.
The event ended with a renewed pledge to expand welfare programs, strengthen women’s football, and continue advocating for better conditions for all players in Botswana.
