FIFPRO Africa Charts a New Course on the Banks of the Nile

CAIRO, EGYPT  — The 19th FIFPRO Africa Congress, held from August 13–14, 2025, in the historic setting of Cairo, marked a turning point for the continent’s football players’ union movement, concluding with three landmark decisions.

First, delegates unanimously approved amendments to the statutes of the Africa Division, aligning them with the latest FIFPRO Global statutes to ensure stronger governance and operational consistency.

Second, a new Africa Board was elected to serve from 2025 to 2029. The four-member team includes Teresa Caleb Ouko (Kenya), Gérémie Njitap (Cameroon), Magdy Abdelghani (Egypt), and Desmond Maringwa (Zimbabwe).

Finally, the congress confirmed continuity in leadership, re-electing Gérémie Njitap as President and Desmond Maringwa as Vice President, both for another four-year term.

With these decisions, FIFPRO Africa signals a renewed commitment to unity, representation, and progress for professional footballers across the continent.
