The 24-year-old, who plays as a goalkeeper for The Mares, Botswana’s women’s national football team, and Double Action Ladies FC, has secured a scholarship at Alcorn State University, a prestigious institution in Mississippi known for its strong athletic programs.

Mokime, currently in her final year at Botswana University, expressed excitement about the opportunity that will allow her to blend academics and sports in an environment designed to support both. "I’m really looking forward to playing university football at Alcorn State. This is a dream come true for me," she shared.

Her journey to the United States wasn’t without challenges. Mokime struggled to balance football and school while in Botswana, often finding her training sessions clashing with academic commitments. "It was difficult to manage both because the training schedule and my lesson timetables were constantly at odds. This scholarship will allow me to focus more on my football development without compromising my education."

With her scholarship confirmed, Bame Mokime has successfully secured her visa and flight tickets, a significant achievement she attributes to the Footballers Union of Botswana (FUB). The union played a vital role by covering the cost of her flights to the United States. "I am incredibly thankful to FUB for stepping in and helping with the logistics, especially the flight tickets. Their support has been invaluable," Mokime shared.

She also expressed heartfelt gratitude to her parents, who stepped in on short notice to cover the costs of her visa, tuition fees, and other important arrangements. "My parents have always been my biggest supporters. For them to come through for me like this in such a short time means the world to me."
